On the 14th of July, student team STORM Eindhoven, from the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), presented the two motorcycle with which they will travel around the world starting in August. The team will travel around the world in 80 days to show that electric vehicles are the future.
STORM Eindhoven has been working on the design and production of the electric motorcycles since 2014. Their goal is to improve the image of sustainable transport around the world. Their electric touring motorcycle are the epitome of what electric vehicles could be in their eyes: silent, efficient and with enough autonomy. Now that the motorcycles are ready, the count down for the STORM World Tour has started!
STORM World Tour
The team will depart from Eindhoven on August 14th 2016. The route will follow the northern hemisphere, starting in Europe, continuing to Asia and North-America, a total of 26.000 driven kilometres. Key to convincing the world is sharing the experience. Therefore, STORM Eindhoven will visit a part of the 'STORM Grid'. These are people, universities and companies that want the team and motorcycle to come by their place to rest and charge. The tour can be followed through social media, and www.storm-eindhoven.com. You can also join the 'STORM Grid' through www.storm-eindhoven.com/World_Tour_2016.
Modular battery pack
A special aspect of the motorcycles is that they have a self-developed battery pack. This pack consists of 24 cartridges that have 28.5 kWh of energy, which enables to have the motorcycle to have a range of 380 kilometres on a single charge. Furthermore, it is possible to adapt the whole pack to enable a lighter motorcycle with a more sportive driving style.
